Chagrine was confused. Who would want to hurt someone as beautiful, fierce and did he mention beautiful? as Ester? He smiled as he fell asleep. Then he began to dream. He dreamed he was in a dark forest. Voices echoed through it. He heard one say: "essssster...where are you...I will find you..." He snapped up. It wasn't a dream anymore. The voice was real. "Esssterrr..." The voice hissed. He bet it was coming closer. Leaping to his feet, he shoved Ester and hissed in her ear. "Come on, get up." Even in her sleep she was gorgeous. The sparkles on her scales glistened, and her purplish sides grew and fell in a steady rhythm. He growled at himself. What in the world was he doing??? He had to wake Ester.
He shoved her again, harder this time. "Ester. Wake up!" He growled. Ester blinked wearily. "H-huh?" She saw him and immediately snapped into focus. "Oh no.." She whispered as she heard the eeiry voice. "Go." She growled, shoving Chagrine toward the bushes. "But I don't want to leave you!" He whined. Ester's eyes grew hard. "I said GO! " She snapped. "Hey, if it would make you feel better, we can meet at the river we fished at in two days. Ok? Noon. Meet me there. Now GO." Chagrine opened his mouth to argue, but his paranoid side took over. He scuttled into the bushes. But he didn't run far away. When he was in deep enough to hide his blue scales, he turned around and peeked through. Just at that moment, a glistening giant black and blue dragon stomped into the clearing. He roared at Ester. "You were supposed to be hunting! Feed the pack, remember!" Ester squared him up. "I couldn't find any, FATHER. (imagine the father in italics)" She lied. Chagrine was startled. The big mean angry dragon was Ester's father??? "Oh really." Snapped Ester's father, unconvinced. "Then why do you smell like fish? Pack first!!" Chagrine felt his blood boil. He dug his claws in the soft dirt. Ester was caught of guard. "I-I.." Ester's father continued. "And why do the bushes smell of fish? You swam with a water snake, I guess? Or did you store a pile for yourself!" 'Uh oh.' Thought Chagrine. He bolted. Just then the bush was torn form the ground by the roots. The viscous dragon must have heard Chagrine because soon there were heavy talons thudding behind him. Chagrine was still hidden, but not for long. He looked ahead. The lake! He could hide in there! There was no hesitating for likes and dislikes as he plunged in the frigid depths. Urgh, it was awful. He saw the blurry shape ahead of him look around, spot nothing, and storm away. He sighed in relief. After waiting ten minutes, he peered out cautiously. He padded back to the little Rock overhang where hehe lived. Though his heart beat fast from the chase, he couldn't wait to see Ester again.
