♥️ LGBTQ+ Manager Training & Research ♥️
⸻ ⸻ ⸻ ⸻
Welcome to the Manager Training and Research studio!
Note to curators: Please don't comment here. You can watch, but don't interrupt the discussions.
Here, we research the best ways to manage our community and support our members.
⸻
How this works: The MiTs will research specific topics in order to help our main studio with the help of our current managers.
⸻
☆ Research ☆
➳ Mob Mentality
➳ Su cide Prevention
➳ De-escalation Techniques
➳ Responding to Vents
➳ Appropriate Jokes
⸻
☆ Su cide Prevention ☆
➳ Don't respond, and instead report the comment. The ST sends resources.
➳ Go to the users profile, and ask if they need to vent. Link them resources such as thetrevorproject.org
➳ Check up on them afterwards, making sure that they are doing okay.
Depression is an illness, not something that one can will away.
Make sure that they know that asking for help is not weak, and they shouldn't feel bad about it. For instance:
"I understand asking for help can be scary, but know that it's okay to ask for help! I will support you and love you along the way! Getting help will make you feel better, and you should never feel ashamed asking for it."
⸻
☆ Mob Mentality ☆
➳ Take some time and think through your comment before posting it.
➳ Do your research before forming an opinion and be open to additional information.
➳ Be okay with standing out, even if that means standing alone.
➳ Don't ignore bullies, especially from inside the community. Give kind reminders to people who are considerably "bullying."
➳ Understand that people can change, for better or for worse.
Explain why they shouldn't escalate the situation. For instance:
"Please try to explain how that's rude, then report and move on. Escalating the situation will cause more drama and hurt, and the person might not even have known that they were doing something wrong."
⸻
☆ Responding to Vents ☆
➳ Don't ignore vents. Before you post a comment, check the past few comments and see if there are any vents that haven't been replied to yet.
➳ @user left a vent below, please look at it and provide support!
➳ Comfort them and let them know that they're loved.
➳ Give them advice, if you can.
➳ Follow the su cide prevention guidelines if it's a su cidal vent.
➳ Afterwards, check on the user to see how they're doing.
➳ Use <333333.
⸻
☆ De-escalation ☆
➳ Try to understand things from both perspectives.
➳ Take a situation based on a factual point of view instead of basing it on feelings.
➳ Take time to remind others to be themselves. While trying to de-escalate, don't forget about the people you're trying to protect.
➳ If the argument is going nowhere, agree to disagree, and say that there's really no point in arguing anymore.
➳ Refrain from attacking the person or making others attack that person.
➳ Consider other people's feelings.
