Hey guys, it's
@StartFromScratch1029 here. I decided to make this studio because lately, Scratch has become a place of hate and bullies, sadness and hurt. Scratch is supposed to be a refuge from all of that, but what happens when your oasis runs dry?
When I first joined Scratch, I was looking forward to it. I couldn't wait to meet new people, express my views and share my ideas and projects.
So many people are leaving because their work has been stolen, they have been cyber bullied, or they feel Scratch isn't the same anymore.
And they are right. Scratch ISN'T the same. I've seen bullying on Scratch with my own eyes, and I have reported it. But then people are also feeling hurt because they have been mass reported when they didn't even do anything wrong!
What most of these bullies on Scratch think is that we don't know who they are, so we can't hurt them. But that isn't a valid reason! These people don't think about if they were the person that was being spammed, bullied, or mass reported.
Here's a fact: You might think bringing others down will help you get higher, but it doesn't. No matter how many toes you step on, how many hearts you crush, you'll never make it. Because you don't get to the top with bullying and making people feel bad about themselves.
We are all human beings, and we are all Scratchers. So let's start acting like a community.
Put #Let'sBringOurScratchBack on your profile if you're with me.
Other Scratchers' input on the situation:
@cginoob - I joined 10 months ago and even then there wasn't this much bullying. It hurts to know that in just a couple months the bullying and toxicity spiked.
@TheBestPllar: I used scratch my first time in 2016, so pretty recent, I think that the reason all this horrible hate started is because of popularity. People are toxic because other people have more followers than them and they go unnoticed. Scratch is not only a coding site but a social media site and people have to realize that its a 1 in a million chance that they will go viral. They also have to realize scratch is a kid friendly program and some popular scratchers people are being mean to are just 8 year olds trying to have fun on an educational website. We as scratchers have to put a stop to this and bring back the wonderful community I know we are. #LETS BRING OUR SCRATCH BACK. Don't bully our scratchers into quitting. Think of Marylands Graces Law, look it up if you don't know what it is, we just need our wonderful community back. :)
@SonicWave77 - I used scratch my first time in 2012, and sometime I wish it would be like it was back then, but also not at the same time. Back then, I didn't know as much about coding, and didn't find it too enjoyable. Granted, the community isn't the best at times, and these are the times I wish it was like 2012, but I ree with me, but just remember, all of the people who are inflicting harm against others on this website, either are being hurt by someone else and are reflecting their hate against others, or they like to watch other people feel pain. If it is either one of these, just ignore them, and they should stop bothering you. If it doesn't stop, reach out for help, and have someone else help you take care of the issue. On the topic of art thefts, don't get me wrong, I disagree strongly with them, and I would like them to stop, but once again, there are always going to be people out there that try to make life harder for others, and those who steal art are one of these
@Jayfeather944- When I joined Scratch 7 months ago, it wasn't nearly as bad, but... It was getting bad... I miss that Scratch, and I think I speak for everyone when I say this Scratch is not a kind caring community.
@Eeveelover1212- I read the description and I was so sad to hear all those bullies and stuff they do. to tell the truth, I have never actually seen Scratch bullies. but we will stop them together. Because we don't need worse things. I mean there is COVID-19! So no more bullies!
@Lordcatwich- When joined a couple years ago, Scratch was amazing. And then I left for a couple years. But when I came back a few months ago, I was shocked at how many people are being bullied, or shamed for no reason, or had their art stolen. This need to stop! Too many people have left because of scratch's toxicness at this point. NO MORE bullying!
@--Nightfeather--: I've been on Scratch for a while, because I've moved accounts. I've met so many great people here, and made so many friends. But now, these people are leaving, because of this. This needs to stop.
@DragonBot5 - Hi, I've been in Scratch for a while and I didnt see many bullies, but if there are they need to stop. We need to stop them.
