What is Mars 2020?
On July 30, 2020, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) will be launching another rover to Mars aboard an Atlas V rocket by the United Launch Alliance (ULA), a joint venture between Lockheed Martin and Boeing.
This mission, named Mars 2020, will not only have a rover, Perseverance, but also a drone, Ingenuity, making it the first drone to launch to another planet and also paving the way for the Dragonfly mission to Saturn's largest moon, Titan, in 2026.
Additionally, Perseverance and Ingenuity will help look for a suitable landing spot for future human missions to Mars, as well as test a system to produce oxygen on Mars to be used during the same missions. Also, Perseverance will collect rock samples to be returned to Earth in a later Arianespace mission
The Perseverance rover and Ingenuity drone will work together to further space exploration and to teach us more about the Red Planet!
