Hey everyone! So I recently made a book that I'm hoping to make into a comic. But first of course I need the inspiration and support to actually make it. So I've got a segment of the book here, and I wanted to know how you all feel about it! Here we go :D!
Elijiah was sitting down on his bed, hugging his knees to his chest. His golden eyes landed on the white hoodie in front of him, and tears filled his eyes. He sighed, and ran a hand through his red hair. It had only been a few days since his boyfriend had left him. It had practically torn the little hybrid apart as he and Briar had been through so much together. So many adventures and perils, friendships and betrayals. Everything seemed perfect as soon as Briar confessed his feelings and they were finally together. Yet the one person he couldn’t afford to lose disappeared. He had tried calling the police, thinking that he was missing, but they easily tracked him down. He was just living on his own again. He had wanted Elijiah to think he was gone. He wanted him to stay away. Elijiah felt tears stream down his cheeks as small whimpers escaped him. He stood up, and threw Briar’s hoodie away, unable to bear looking at it. He sighed, and looked out of the quaint little bedroom’s window at the neighborhood below. All of the houses had their lights on, illuminating the woods surrounding it as shadows of the leaves cast down on the grass. A sunset filled with multiple shades of pinks and oranges painted the sky over it. He had an amazing view from where his window was positioned. He could see every bit of the spectre, making it feel like looking through a picture frame. Normally, a sight like this would have made him feel happy and calm. But now all he felt was emptiness looking at it. A dark, cold emptiness he so desperately wished to escape. His ears perked up as a knock sounded behind him, followed by the click of a door opening.
“ Elijiah, it’s time for dinner.” A voice said, recognized to be Elijiah’s mother, Mrs. Koi. Elijiah nodded. “ Yes ma'am, i’ll be down in a bit.” He said in his regular cheery tone. It was obviously forced, but his mother didn’t seem to notice. Mrs. Koi smiled. “ Alright. Also, I think you should go for a walk after dinner. You’ve been cooped up in your room for a week now.” She said. Elijiah nodded in response. “ I will.” He forced himself to smile. Mrs. Koi smiled back, and left the room. Elijiah’s smile immediately faded as he looked back out the window. Briar used to go on walks with him all the time. It’s how they got to know each other so well. He blinked back tears, and walked out of his room to the stairs. He remembered when Briar had helped him get up and down the stairs when he was hurt, always being gentle and kind. He brushed off the memory, and went down the stairs where his little sister Lidia was waiting. She smiled brightly, and held up a poorly drawn portrait of her and Elijiah. Her heart tipped demon tail was swaying behind her.
“ Wook! I drew us at da park!” She exclaimed happily. Elijiah smiled brightly. This time it was sort of a real smile. “ T-That’s awesome! Thank you so much!” He said. Lidia’s slitted pupils in her brown eyes dialated, showing she was very excited. “ Yay!!!” She gave Elijiah the picture, then went to the dinner table, her white pigtails bouncing with each step. Elijiah neatly folded the little drawing, and put it in his pocket. He slowly followed Lidia to the table, sitting down at their wooden flower-encrusted chairs. Mrs. Koi was in the kitchen of which it's walls opened to the dining room and living room with the staircase wedged in between. She walked over to the table, and gave Lidia her plate as well as Elijiah before sitting down himself. He just started eating, and Lidia played with her food. Silence hung in the house, only broken by the clicking of their forks against the glass plates. Elijiah didn't mind the silence, as it's what always happened at their meals. They always promised to eat together, but no one spoke as they tended to just be focused on eating. Of course they told each other about their day once they got home, but dinner wasn't the time to speak. Lidia eventually stopped playing with her food, and actually ate. Elijiah ate as well, enjoying the little distraction from Briar. Soon, they were all done eating, and Mrs. Koi took their plates to wash them as Lidia ran off to go play pretend. Elijiah inwardly sighed. He wasn't looking forward to going on a walk. It would only bring back unwanted memories. He stood up and went to his room, slipping on his shoes and black hoodie.
Elijiah walked back downstairs, and went to the kitchen. " I'm going on that walk now." He said, smiling. Mrs. Koi glanced back, and nodded. " Alrighty. Stay safe." She said, and smiled. Elijiah nodded, and walked outside.
