(i wrote this part when i was really little, keep that in mind)
“Finally! Summer! Two whole months of break!” I shouted to my friends as we were walking home from our last day of school. Isabella and Olivia are the best friends ever! Many times, we had playdates and fun together.
“No more homework!” shouted Isabella happily. Her long dark hair flowed down as she raised her head to yell at the sky. She smiled at me, her dimples catching the sun.
We all have nicknames. We use them when we are having fun. It’s kind of like our way of telling how we feel. Olivia’s is Livi, and Isabella’s is Bella. My nickname is Em, short for Emma. Bella has glasses, but she doesn’t wear them that often. They help her to see, but she doesn’t like that her eyelashes brush against them. She says her eyesight really isn’t that bad.
I keep on telling Livi that she has hair that is just as nice, and her eyes match it. She never used to listen to me, but I tell her that her eyes look like huge puddles of cocoa and that her hair is like a waterfall of endless thick chocolate.
I want to be a model/actress/singer/writer, but I don’t know if I am pretty enough. Livi tells me that I look right for the job, but I don’t believe her. Best friends are always saying things like that. I sighed. I am nice, caring. But I can be bossy at times. Especially when it comes to business. I love being outdoors, I like trying to cook, and I definitely love crafting many different things.
My older sister, Lila, is pretty fashionable. Not as fashionable as Bella, but she still looks nice every day. Lila is 15 years old. She is sort of bossy, but she teaches me all the popular dance moves nowadays.
“I know, right! This is going to be the best summer yet! We’ll go to the beach, get ice cream, I couldn’t even mention all the endless options!” squealed Olivia.
“Whose house do you want to go to first?” Isabella asked.
“My parents and sister are busy doing work at home, so not my house,” I said after we calmed down a bit.
“How about my house? My mom and sister are out
shopping, they will come home late, and my dad’s at work. He usually works till like, 5 am. It saddens me. My mom and sis want to, you know, stay overnight at the mall. Don’t tell anyone! We’ll have the whole house to ourselves!” Olivia suggested.
“Great! See you there!” I shouted as we parted ways to get our things. The whole summer! I thought as I walked to my house.
When I got home, I yelled, “Mom! I’m home! I’m going to Olivia’s house tonight! We’re having a sleepover!”
”Well, don’t be back too late. Your father and I still have work to do.”
I don’t think she heard me when I said ‘sleepover’, I thought.. “Mo-om!!! It’s a sleepover!”
“Okay honey! Have fun!” I could hear the strain in her voice from all the coffee she was drinking.
I frowned. “You sure you’re okay, Mom?”
She yelled back, “I’m fine.” I felt awfully worried. However, I got some of my things. I ran down the stairs, and just before I reached the door, I shouted, “Bye Mom! Love you!” Hopefully that helps her.
“Bye, honey! Have fun!” I went out of the door and suddenly my phone rang. “Oh no! I’m late!” I sprinted to Livi’s house, just next door to mine. When I got there, my friends had already started painting their nails.
“Sorry, I’m late. I lost track of time,” I told them.
“It’s alright. You gave us some time to set up,” Isabella responded as she was looking at her toenail with the nail polish brush in her hand.
“You okay, Bella? You look pretty pale.”
I sat down, and said, “Okay, well, what do you want to do?”
“I don’t know,” responded Isabella.
“I know! How about … a pillow fight!” Olivia grabbed a pillow and threw it at me.
“Oh, you are so on!” Isabella quickly put the nail polish away, grabbed a pillow and threw it at Olivia. Within moments, we were laughing, squealing, and throwing pillows at each other. Ugh. My back feels weird. I thought.. It’s probably nothing, I concluded. When we finally settled down to do our makeup, Isabella said, “Do you want to crash?”
“No way! We’re staying up all night!” Olivia informed her.
