PACK PROLOUGE:
Laylana lifted her tail. She smelled something she hadn't smelled in a long time. Wolves. She decided to join them. Being a lone wolf is very hard. She walked up to the forest the wolves reside in. Two wolves noticed her. "Halt. This territory belongs to the this pack. You may not enter." "I want to join this pack." "Then, we must test you to see if you would strengthen our pack or weaken it." They tested her speed, agility, stamina, and strength. She passed the test. The alphas gasped. She had gotten the highest amount of points on all the tests. The alphas decided to let her join at the rank of beta. A young boy cub said, "Why, you would be the best alpha ever!" The other wolves looked at her grimly. She knew what they were thinking. The alphas had heard the cub saying this, and the alpha female wanted her out of the pack. But they needed to decide who the pack's alpha must be. There would be a fight to decide this. The loser would be cast out. The winner would become alpha. Laylana growled as the fight began. She circled around the alpha, who then pounced on her. She wrestled, but got free easily. The alpha tried again, clawing her back to weaken her. She nipped her tail. Laylana yelped, her tail swishing, throwing the alpha off. The alpha tried again. Laylana retaliated with bites and scratches. She bit the alpha's front leg. The alpha, enraged, tried to deliver a killing blow. Laylana, seeing the move coming, dodged out of the way and clawed the alpha. The alpha spun around and nipped Everest on the nose. She yelped and pulled back. Realizing this could be seen as resignation, she growled and jumped over the blustering alpha's back, spinning around to give a telling strike. The alpha got out of the way just in time, Laylana's claw only missing by a centimeter. It wasn't a killing blow, but it was enough to wound her badly. She realized if she fought any longer, she wouldn't live through it, and, sensibly, clamped her tail beneath her legs, shame-faced. Laylana bowed respectfully
to the injured former alpha and asked a healer to help her. The former alpha, after being healed, ran off into the distance, now an outcast. Laylana had won. She was now alpha.
