Xs in comments: bug or feature?

Today a few words of a comment of mine (http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/10725053/#comments-13751623) got transformed in Xs… Is this a new feature or just a weird bug?

I think it might be a buggy feature

More seriously though - it's probably the phone number or email detector logic trying to prevent you from sharing personal information. It looks like it is making a mistake though…do you recall what the text was that you had entered that it decided to X out?

He says it was something like “extreme help”on the project, which would make sense.

Well, we're rolling out some changes to it soon…please post here if you continue to see cases where text is being replaced with “X”'s - that aren't phone numbers or email addresses.

Yeah, sorry about that everyone - we've just pushed out some fixes for this, but there may be more work to do on it. We'll be watching for more false positives, and fixing them as they come in. Thanks for being patient!

i was trying to give someone a picture they wanted, but it replaced the numbers with X's! so i had to do the numbers with spaces in between,

Yep. Same thing. When I was putting down PI, not, pie, I had the same problem. not the normal 3.14. PI with 19 decimal digits. I think Scratch should have an update to only do it if the numbers start with 778, 604, and so on.

Hi! This is very old. If you have a bug to report in the filter, please use the pinned thread.
