► What are bees?
Bees are insects of the hymenoptera order, such as wasps and ants. There are at least 20,000 different species in the world, but only 7 species of bees can make honey. They can live in hives or alone.
► Why are they so important in biodiversity?
Bees are used to produce honey, but they have an even more important mission: pollination, which allows plants to reproduce.
For plants, it is a question of producing seeds, pips, nuclei... When they fall to the ground, they will germinate and give birth to new plants.
► Are bees endangered?
Yes!! In 20 years, many species of bees have disappeared in the world: high mortality rates, deserted hives, foragers are victims of a devastating scourge: insecticides.
► How can I help protect bees?
① Don't use pesticides in your garden anymore, they poison the environment!
② Flower your garden to offer bees a varied and quality food!
③ Support local beekeepers who take care of our bees.
④ Choose local, organic and seasonal food!
⑤ Talk to your entourage about bees! :)
We must take care of our environment. If each of us makes a small gesture, however modest, we can save our bees. But we must act now!
