❝ Welcome! This studio is for some of the community's feedback about the Scratch 3.0 update. Feel free to express your own opinions about the update by making a project or leaving a comment! ❞

    STUDIO RULES:

Only projects related to the Scratch 3.0 update will be added. Do not add unrelated projects - they will be removed!

Be kind in the comment section and respect everyone's opinions.

A message to anyone reporting bugs: Be specific, and give details related to your OS, browser, etc. It's hard for someone to help you when they don't have any info.

Follow this studio to show the Scratch Team that many people find this an important issue, and ask to become a manager!

Have a look at these two excellent projects which explain issues with Scratch 3.0 very well:

    THIS STUDIO'S AIM

The aim of this studio is definitely not to 'Stop Scratch 3.0', even if you see someone say that in the comments. Please stay positive and give constructive feedback instead!

    WHAT IS SCRATCH 3.0?

Scratch 3.0 is the new version of scratch, and has made a plethora of changes which are future proofing the platform such as mobile device support, the removal of Adobe flash and touchscreen support. It also has more features such as extensions and more.

    WHAT'S IMPROVED?

The design is great, some new blocks have been added and there have been amazing improvements involving the paint editor.

    THE HACKED BLOCKS PROBLEM

Some projects need to use hacked blocks to work, but projects that use these hacked blocks do not work in Scratch 3.0 – a solution would be to make it possible to drag variable blocks into all drop-down menus. This problem is explained in more detail here:

    https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/313666/

    THE FONT PROBLEM

When you open one of your projects in Scratch 3.0, all the text in the project that was made with the vector editor is put into a different font, because 3.0 has a different font collection than 2.0.

A different font has a different line length, even for the same text, and suddenly you find that your text is protruding over the side of the button it's meant to be on! Resizing all the text can be a lot of work, especially if this problem ruins a text engine.

    THE SOUND EDITOR PROBLEM

    This problem was fixed, hooray!

    - - -

    THE SAVING PROBLEM

In the Scratch 3.0 offline editor, it is impossible to save your project normally. Each time you try to exit scratch, it tells you that unsaved changes will be lost, but these are impossible to save!

The only thing you can do is download a new file each time, but this is a bit annoying. Why?

    This is possibly a bug.

    THE BLOCK SIZE PROBLEM

The new blocks have much more padding on them than the old blocks did (see studio thumbnail). This means that scripts look a lot longer, and it makes it harder to code complex projects.
