✎ what is hand lettering?
hand lettering is the art of drawing letters by hand. it is all about the arrangement of how letters appear together. hand lettering is creative, expressive, and fun!

✎ materials
the only supplies you will need are paper, pens, pencils, and a ruler.

✎ letter anatomy
letters can be divided into the base line, the x line, the ascender line, and the descender line.

✎ letter anatomy (cont.)
the base line is where your letters sit. the x height is where the top of lowercase letters reach. the ascender line is for strokes that reach upwards. the descender line is for strokes that reach downwards.

✎ strokes
there are downstrokes and upstrokes to master before hand lettering. when you pull your pen down, you should put more weight into your line. when you pull your pen up, you should put lighter weight into your line.

there are so many different fonts you can try out. some basic ones are serif, sans serif, and script.

some sites to help you with hand lettering are pinterest for font inspo, and youtube to watch how other people hand letter.
